How Can I Finish What I Started?
It’s easy to take on any project which comes your way, but unless you finish it, you won’t get any credit! Your efforts won’t matter until you complete the task you have undertaken. However, the problem is most people cannot finish what they have started.
In order to ensure that your efforts pay off you need to finish the work undertaken. If you find it difficult you may try the following:
Be Selective in the Work you Choose
When you work on something, you give your energy in it. Thus, be picky about which projects you give your efforts to. Your time is very precious and you must spend it carefully. If you are not passionate about the work in hand, then you will lose interest soon. Be sure that you will love working on the thing you are undertaking. Then start the project.
Plan the Resources
Now, that you have undertaken the task, it’s time to plan things out. What will the finished project look like? What are the resources required to reach the goal? Resources will differ from one project to another. After you gather resources, it’s time to plan out how to accomplish the task.
Chalk Out Time
Next, allocate time for the different steps that will help you reach the deadline. You must be aware of how much time each process will require and divide your workload accordingly. Most of the time people tend to abandon the work in hand because they get stuck somewhere and then start losing interest. If you know how much more time may be required you can continue giving your efforts.
Know Your Pattern
While you are working on any project you must remember your pattern of work. For example, how long are you able to focus on a single task? What is it that helps you work better, and what stops you from working? Once you know that, you have to work on those things that stop you from completing the work. Make sure that you do not undertake anything that doesn’t interest you. Then you will never able to complete it.
Don’t be a Perfectionist
Most people give up on their work because they want to be perfect in what they are doing. Actually, there is no such thing as perfect! So, instead of trying to make everything perfect, ensure that you are doing things right. When you try to be perfect you stress yourself out, that might stop you from reaching the end goal.
Track your progress
It’s important to set step by step goals. Keep tracking your progress. Once you accomplish one goal, work further to reach the next and eventually you will reach where you want to be. That is to have completed your project.
