The recent pandemic has turned the life of the human population upside down. With each passing day, people are adjusting their routine to new ways of working and living. However, working from home can make you feel stressed, bored, and anxious.
- Fix a Routine and Stick to It
Follow your normal office schedule and set a fixed sleeping pattern. Most importantly, you must remain calm, focused, and consistent. Leave your bed and eat breakfast. You can utilise your commuting time by listening to some calm music, meditating, or reading a book before working. Log out when your office time ends. Forget emails, and instead, shift all your focus to your personal life.
- Create a Separate Workspace
Find a space where there are no distractions. Arrange all the items you need for the day, like stationery, chargers, and other work-related items in one place. If possible, you can shut the door to avoid distractions in your workspace. Work at a desk, if you can, and avoid sitting on the bed or any other soft seating arrangements.
- Take Small Breaks
When you are working from home, you might feel that you are available all the time. Though, it is no use when you are absent-minded. So, it is important to take a few small breaks in between work sessions to focus on your job. Sip a cup of coffee and breathe in the fresh air. Stretch your arms and muscles for 5–10 minutes before going back to work.
- Socialise Virtually
It is important to stay in touch with your friends and colleagues while working. This will help you stay connected with them. Request each other’s support when taking breaks. Find time to socialise with each other over a video call or an online coffee break.
- Create Boundaries
Separate your office and personal life. This is important for your mental well-being. You can share your office schedule with your family members, especially the small kids. They might think you are on a holiday and want to spend time with you. Tell them you are working, and you are available only after office hours. The same goes for your office work. Shut everything off when your office time ends and focus on yourself.
- Think in a Broader Spectrum
Try to think about how you can utilise your office space. Would sitting beside a window that helps you concentrate make you more comfortable? Think outside of the box to maximise your efficiency.
- Focus on Your Abilities
Never lose focus on your abilities. Meaning, you might face a hard day at the office, while some days you will have less work pressure. It is ideal to remain calm and composed while you are working.
- Cook a Meal
Prepare lunch for yourself. Even if you aren’t a talented chef, try your hand at some cooking. This will reduce your anxiety, boredom, and stress.
- Take Sick Leaves
Feeling sick? Take time off from your work. Inform your bosses that you are not available that day and get complete rest. Recover and then start working the following day.
- Meditate Every Day
It is important to meditate every day to maintain your focus and concentration. Meditation has the power to bring a sense of calmness and peace to your body and mind. Relax, take deep breaths, and continue meditating.
